Box Score 2 LEESBURG, FLA. – The D'Youville University softball team got another strong starting performance from Sarah Parzych as she kept the American International College bats quiet in game one, 2-1 DYU.
The Saints pitched well in game two but the bats were quiet, five hits, as they were shutout by St. Michael's College, 3-0.
GAME 1 – DYU 2, AIC 1
- DYU used 2-out magic in the first as Hannah Bardeen's double was followed by a Laura Beck single to center to put the Saints up 1-0.
- A Bardeen sacrifice fly with the bases juiced brought home pinch runner Jenna Reynolds for an insurance run in the fifth, 2-0 DYU.
- A 2-out double in the seventh would come around to score and make it a one-run ballgame but Parzych got the next hitter to ground out to the sure handed Mikayla Bush at third base to end the game.
Inside the Numbers:
- Parzych: W (3-2) 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 5 Ks
- Bardeen: 1-2, RBI, R
Game 2: SMC 3, DYU 0
- SMC scored one in the third, fourth and fifth innings off of some productive outs
- DYU stranded five runners on base with no runner reaching third in the game
- Lauren Booth had a good start for the Saints: 4 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 2K
- Gianna Adamo went 2-for-3 out of the leadoff spot for the second straight game
The Saints wrap up their 12-game spring break trip tomorrow against University of New Haven (CT) at 10 am before taking on Salem (WV) at 12:15.
