Box Score PETERSBURG, VA- The D'Youville University women's basketball team competed against the Big Blue of Bluefield State University coming out victorious, 67-58.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Anna Jankovic was on a mission scoring a team-high of 25 points, along with five rebounds and an assist, Brianne Moxley contributed in the Saints outing recording 16 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists.
FIRST QUARTER
- At 7:28 Jankovic's made layup helped put the Saints back out in front that birthed a 12-0 run, 13-3
- From that point on the scoring efforts for DYU were on pare with BSU's scoring gathering, 5-5, but by the end, the Saints were still on top, 20-10.
- The Saints got the lead stretched out to as much as 10 points.
SECOND QUARTER
- Within 5:11 of play DYU maintained a pace that outscored the Big Blue, 9-4.
- Moxley hit her jump shot at 4:51 that brought out the 7-0 run produced by the Saints creating a lead of 20 points, 36-16.
- Closing out the quarter efforts on the defensive end of the floor only allowed for eight BSU points to be scored with the Saints going into halftime with a 14-point lead, 38-24.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Big Blue responded to the momentum of the Saints by going on a 5-0 run of their own, 40-29.
- DYU was unable to cash in on a shot for 5:50 until at 3:59 Jaelyn Vleer-Elliott stopped the bleeding off the made layup scored, 42-29.
- Jankovic got to the line with three seconds remaining where she made both shots assisting in the Saints lead, 46-37.
FOURTH QUARTER
- BSU didn't waste any time showing urgency hitting a three-pointer that brings the Big Blue within six points, 46-40.
- Shortly after DYU responded with a quick 6-0 run that gave the Saints a more assuring lead, 52-40.
- Kirisits layup at 4:35 extended the Saints lead to its largest margin of 14 points in the quarter, 58-44.
- Last points for the Saints came from the charity stripe with Mollica who made a free throw shot that solidified their victory to advance to the finals of the USCAA National Basketball Championships, 67-58.
