Slippery Rock Spoils Parzych's Pitching Efforts in Game Two

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LEESBURG, FLA. – The D'Youville University softball team had a tough turnaround, taking the diamond less than 10 hours after arriving back home last night due to weather delays and it showed as they fell to Lock Haven, 13-2 in five innings.

The Saints rebounded in game two versus Slippery Rock, holding a 3-2 lead heading to the bottom of the sixth, but they were unable to close out the game and this time fell in extra innings to The Rock, 4-3.

GAME 1 – Lock Haven 13, DYU 2

  • Lock Haven scored one in the opening frame off a double steal before hanging a 10-spot in the third to open up a 11-0 margin.
  • DYU showed some fight in the fifth as Laura Beck's single to left plated Gianna Adamo.
  • Hannah Bardeen followed with a single to left to bring Beck home, LHU 13-2 Final.

GAME 2: SRU 4, DYU 3 (F/8)

  • SRU made DYU pay for an error in the second as a two-out single plated two unearned runs, SRU 2-0.
  • The Saints strung together some 2-out magic in the fourth as a Mikayla Bush base-on-balls was followed by a pair of singles from Jenna Reynolds and Ally Beardi to set the table for a timely Jamie Bower 2 RBI single to centerfield to tie the game before Beardi scored shortly thereafter via a wild pitch, DYU 3-2 after four
  • A leadoff single in the sixth brought Alexis DelFavero in for her third appearance of the week, spelling a standout start from Sarah Parzych.
  • The freshman got two outs but a timely hitting this time benefited The Rock, 3-3, to the seventh.
  • Both teams stranded a runner on base in the seventh so the ballgame moved to the eighth.
  • In the top half, a Bryanna Dewey pinch hit single put runners on the corners with nobody out but DYU followed by going 1-2-3 to give SRU a chance to walk it off.
  • A 1-out single put runners on the corners for The Rock before the starting pitcher for SRU helped her own cause with a sacrifice fly to center to end the ballgame.
