Box Score 2 LEESBURG, FLA. – The D'Youville University softball team used four runs in the last two innings of a 8-5 loss to Minnesota-Crookston in game one to propel them to a fast start that culminated in a 7-6 extra innings win over Felician in game two.
GAME 1 – Minn-Crookston 8, DYU 5
- Jamie Bower sac fly knots game at 1-1 after top of second
- Bases clearing triple puts MCU ahead 4-1 after bottom half
- 2 RBI double tacks on two more in fourth before another one makes it 7-1
- Gianna Adamo's single plated two DYU runs after a MCU error in the sixth 7-3
- MCU would get one back in the bottom half before, but Hannah Bardeen's two-run shot put pressure on MCU in the top of the seventh, MCU 8-5
- Saints' comeback efforts fell short with tying run at the plate
Game 2: DYU 7, FEL 6 F/8
- FEL up 2-0 after top of third
- Hannah Bardeen and Lauren Booth hit back-to-back doubles to tie game at 2-2 before Jenna Reynolds reaches on throwing error to give Saints after four frames
- Mikayla Bush's two RBI single opens up a three-run margin in fifth before another FEL error makes in 6-2 DYU
- FEL's bats wake up in sixth and seventh with two runs in each frame to force extras
- Kayla Van Elsland walks it off via bases loaded walk to give DYU 7-6 win
The Saints have a quick turnaround with a 9:00 am tilt against Lock Haven before a contest with Slippery Rock to follow at 11:15.
