Box Score PETERSBURG, VA- The D'Youville University women's basketball team competed against the Builders of the Apprentice School surpassing them, 75-48 to advance to the next round of the USCAA National Basketball Tournament.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Brianne Moxley was stellar for the Saints finishing her evening with 20 points, five rebounds, and three assists, Sofie Fuglsang Fulsang compiled 12 points and four rebounds, and Anna Jankovic was everywhere on the floor as she recorded 10 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists.
FIRST QUARTER
- DYU wasted no time getting settled within the game as they executed a 12-0 run that allowed for the Saints to get on a roll.
- At 4:17 Jankovic's made free throw brought the Saints to lead by as much as 14 points developing a comfortable gap in their favor, 19-5.
- From that point on the Builders outscored the Saints, 7-2 to wrap things up, 21-12.
SECOND QUARTER
- The Builders from the charity stripe cashed in both free throws at the 8:53 mark that brought them within 10 points, 24-14.
- For 2:16 DYU was unable to find a way to produce a basket until at 6:19 Jaelyn Vleer-Elliott got to the line where she made both shots giving the Saints back their double-digit lead, 26-14.
- The onslaught continued as the Saints branched their lead out to by as much as 17 points.
- To stop some of the bleeding Apprentice scored 11 points to close out the quarter but it was no match for DYU as they were the ones going into halftime with the lead and momentum, 40-29.
THIRD QUARTER
- DYU's start to the quarter resulted in a similar fashion as the beginning of the first half producing an 8-0 run that kept the Saints out in front, 48-29. Then shortly after by the 6:07 mark recorded them on another 8-0 run, 56-31.
- The defensive prowess of DYU stood strong for the remainder of the quarter only allowing five points to be scored, 65-36.
FOURTH QUARTER
- This was a bit more up-tempo on the Apprentice side of things as they outscored the Saints in this quarter, 12-10.
- The Builders defense tighten up making it difficult for Saints to score resulting in their best run being, 5-1 at 7:38, 70-37.
- Apprentice couldn't pull out enough stops to prevail over DYU, leading to the Saints coming out victorious, 75-48.
