Box Score Buffalo, N.Y.- The D'Youville University men's basketball team played against the Mavericks of Mercy College dropping, 81-79 from the College Center Gym.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
FIRST HALF
- At 17:35 the score was tied at 3-3 then the Mavericks went on a 12-2 run with Kondrat hitting a jump shot at the 13:57 mark to help give the Saints momentum, 14-7.
- The Saints were down by as much as 12 points in the half.
- DYU weathered the storm by only being down by 7 points with buckets coming from Renard Fontes Jules and Rod Johnson to close out the half, 41-34.
SECOND HALF
- Saints came out strong to start the half by scoring 6 points in the first 2:08 of the half that brought DYU in by just four points after the made layup by Latrell Butler, 44-40.
- Johnson helped push the Saints to get back into the lead with a layup of his own at 11:01, 54-53.
- DYU was able to maintain the lead for 8:37 until Mercy was back on top with the lead at 3:04 off a layup, 70-68.
- With 26 seconds left in the game Kondrat hit a clutch three-pointer that resulted in the Saints being down by only two points, 77-75.
- From that point on the Saints couldn't get the shots they needed to fall which contributed to the loss, 81-79.
