UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Competing in their final duals of the fall semester, the D'Youville University women's wrestling team went a perfect 2-0 at the John Carroll University Tri-Meet Sunday afternoon.
D'Youville 30 – Hiram 15
After forfeiting the first three weight classes and a double forfeit in the 123-pound weight class, the Saints rattled off six straight wins to score 30 unanswered points.
Emily Sindoni (Nichols, N.Y.) got the forfeit win in the 130-pound weight class before DYU got the fall in the next three weight classes. At the 136-pound weight class,
Madison Wellen (East Berlin, Pa.) got the fall over Mallory Chunat in 5:30.
Saniyah Ward (The Colony, Texas) followed that up with a fall over Allydia Byard, needing just 29 seconds to do so. In the 155-pound weight class,
Alessandra Elliott (Staten, Island, N.Y.) got the fall over Erika Novak in 41 seconds.
Elizabeth Stricklin (San Antonio, Texas) and
Riley Wentlent (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) rounded out the dual, getting their wins by forfeit.
In exhibition action, Sindoni got the tech. fall over Caitlin Lewis.
D'Youville 29 – John Carroll 10
In their last dual of the afternoon, the Bluestreaks jumped out to a 10-0 lead after getting forfeit wins in the 109 and 123-pound weight class. Sindoni got the Saints on the board, getting the forfeit win in the 130-pound weight class followed by a forfeit win by Wellen in the 136-pound weight class to make it 10-10.
Ward continued her strong day, getting the fall over Meghan Edwards in 1:35. Elliott also rounded out her strong outing with a 10-0 tech. fall win over Jordan Palmer.
Stricklin and Wentlent rounded out the dual with wins by medical forfeits.
In exhibition action, Stricklin came away with a tech. fall win over Jordan Palmer.
The Saints will be off until January 7th when they travel to the Ursinus Duals.
