CLERMONT, Fla. - The D'Youville softball team continued their winning ways in the Sunshine State, Monday evening, shutting out Berea College, 7-0. Freshman Sarah Parzych backed up sophomore Lauren Booth's 15 strikeout complete game shutout on Sunday with 13 strikeouts in a complete game, two-hit shutout of her own on Monday. The win improves the Saints to 2-0 on the young season.
A day after striking out 15 batters, Booth did her damage from the inside the batter's box. In the bottom of the first, Booth got the Saints on the board with a pop fly that was bobbled by the Barea left fielder, allowing senior Maddy Pepke and freshman Gianna Adamo to cross home. The Saints weren't done in the first, extending their lead to three runs on an RBI single from sophomore Mikayla Bush.
An error and a passed ball in the bottom of the second allowed two more Saints to advance home and the Saints pushed their lead to five runs. Pepke added an RBI infield single in the bottom of the third to make it a 6-0 game and put the game out of reach.
Four Saints hit safely multiple times in Monday's victory … Pepke, Adamo, and senior Mikaela Milleville led the way as each player went 2-for-3 … Booth (2-for-4), Pepke Bush, and senior Mikaela Milleville also drove one run in each for the Saints.
