CLERMONT, Fla. - The D'Youville University softball team kicked off their 2022 campaign, blanking Penn St.-DuBois, 3-0, behind a career-high 15-strikeout complete game from sophomore pitcher Lauren Booth. Additionally, senior Maddy Pepke eclipsed the 100-hit mark for her career with a bunt single in the season opener.
Senior Mikaela Milleville led the Saints at the plate with a 3-for-3 game. Milleville drove in two runs with a double and a single that drove in Pepke and freshman Gianna Adamo, respectively.
Adamo picked up her first collegiate run batted in with a single to center field that also plated Pepke.
Booth dominated in her return to the D'Youville circle after collecting five wins in her freshman season.
Two of the Saints' seven hits went for extra bases.
The Saints return to the diamond tomorrow for a pair of games against Barea College (4 p.m.) and Westfield St. (6:15 p.m.).
