Softball Wins Trio of Florida Matchups

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3

LEESBURG, Fla. - After a string of rain delays and cancelations, the Florida skies finally opened up for the D'Youville softball team Friday. The Saints took advantage of the good weather, winning all three of their games against Catholic University (7-6), Eastern Nazarene (9-0, five innings), and Anderson (Ind.) (9-1, six innings). The trio of victories improves the Saints to 6-0 on the season, who were undefeated during their stay in the Sunshine State.

GAME ONE NOTES – Catholic University

The Saints had to claw their way back from a 4-1 deficit in game one against Catholic. D'Youville did just that, getting multi-hit games from senior Maddy Pepke (3-for-4), sophomore Lauren Booth (2-for-4, 2 RBI), and senior Carly Milleville (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI). Milleville's home run was the second of her career and her last came in a 12-11 victory over Queens (N.Y.) last season.

Freshen duo Sarah Parzych and Cassie Crerar took to the circle for the Saints. Parzych went 5.2 innings and struck out two while giving up only three hits. Crear got the other four outs and was tagged with three earned runs on five hits.

GAME TWO NOTES – Eastern Nazarene

The Saints jumped on the Lions, scoring early and often, highlighted by a five-run fourth inning that put the contest out of reach. RBI doubles from freshman Gianna Adamo and Booth helped the Saints stretch their advantage to nine runs.

Senior Mikaela Milleville paced the Saints at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs batted in.

While helping her cause at the plate, Booth shut out the Lions from the circle. Going the distance for the Saints, the Lancaster native tossed five innings of scoreless ball while striking out four batters.

GAME THREE NOTES – Anderson (Ind.)

In the final game of the day, the D'Youville offense picked right back up where they left off. The Saints crossed home plate four times in the opening frame against Anderson. The Milleville sisters led the charge to begin the game as Mikaela drove in a run with an RBI single and Carly followed up with a two-run triple to left field.

Despite having all they needed after the first inning, the Saints' offense kept their foot on the gas pedal, plating two more runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth.

Parzach was back in the circle for the second time in Friday's tripleheader. The Getzville, N.Y. product was tough to beat in her six-inning complete game where she fanned five and only surrendered one earned run on four hits.

UP NEXT

The Saints return home from their Florida trip before heading out to Erie, Pa. for a doubleheader against Mercyhurst on March 15.
