After a busy week on the diamond, the D'Youville softball team racked up another East Coast Conference weekly award, as the league office announced freshman pitcher Lauren Booth as the ECC Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Booth played a key role in the circle and at the plate in D'Youville's 8-3 victory over Houghton College on March 23, a victory that saw the Saints sweep the Highlanders and push their winning streak to four games. The Lancaster, N.Y., native fanned five batters and only issued one walk while allowing three runs on eight hits, earning her first victory at the collegiate level. Booth helped her own cause at the plate with a three-run double to center field in the top of the third inning. Booth's extra base-hit inflated the Saints' lead to five runs, an advantage D'Youville would not relinquish.  

The freshman picked up another base hit in the 4-3 setback to Bridgeport in game one of a conference doubleheader on March 27. Entering Monday's doubleheader at the Staten Island, Booth has three hits on the season and has been walked once. In two appearances in the circle, she holds a 2.74 ERA through 7.2 innings pitched.
