BUFFALO, N.Y. – Sara Pfeiffer scored a career-high 40 points, and three other Saints were in double figures as the D'Youville women's basketball team rolled past Bridgeport, 95-68, on Friday evening.

The Saints (6-1, 1-0 ECC) cracked the 90-point plateau for the first time since beating Pitt-Greensburg, 91-87, in overtime on January 19, 2019. The win is also the third straight for the Saints, and their 6-1 record is the best start since the 2014-15 season when D'Youville started 7-1.

Pfeiffer hit six 3-pointers and went 13-30 from the field. The guard added seven rebounds and six steals. Anna Jankovic provided 18 points and six rebounds on 7-16 shooting. Riley Riedel had 11 points, and 11 rebounds for her first double-double, and Stella Mollica had 10 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

D'Youville scored 26 in the opening quarter, with 12 coming from Pfeiffer to take a nine-point lead. The Saints used a 14-0 run in the first quarter to create separation, and Bridgeport (3-5, 0-1 ECC) could not respond despite having a 7-0 run of their own in the quarter.

In a game where they didn't trail, the Saints limited the Purple Knights to only four 3-pointers and forced 24 turnovers. D'Youville turned those 24 turnovers into 27 points. Bridgeport only scored over 16 points in a quarter in the third when it stuck for 29.

Pfeiffer is the fourth player to score at least 40 points in a Division II game this season and is the most by an ECC player this season … D'Youville hit nine 3-pointers for the third time this season … The Saints hit 80-percent from the free-throw line for the second straight contest … Jankovic's double-figure night was her fifth straight … Mollica was in double-figures for the sixth time in seven games … Riedel added six assists to her double-double, which is a new career-best …
