Box Score September 18th, 2014 - The D'Youville Men's Soccer Team faced off against an in-city rival Thursday afternoon as they suffered a loss to Buffalo State College, 6-0.
"Buffalo State is a very well coached team who came out flying and put us under pressure from the get go," said Head Coach Bredan Murphy on the Spartans opponent.
Buffalo State put 11 shots on freshman goalkeeper Callum Christie (Hamilton, ON, CA/Dallastown), who played all 90 minutes. The Spartans only had 1 shot on goal, which was taken by the most recent addition to the roster, senior Edward Appah (Bronx, NY/Bishop Herman).
Coach Murphy would like to see some more effort out of his team, saying "We have to be able to match or exceed our opponent's effort and work rate or we will struggle to compete in every game this year."
The team's next game against Alfred State will also be a tough one: "Alfred State will be another good opponent on Saturday. I expect to see our guys come out with a genuine effort for 90 minutes," said Murphy.
The game against Alfred State is at home on Saturday, September 20th at 3pm.
