Box Score 2 Buffalo, NY-The D'Youville College softball team opened the 2014 season in Florida and first baseman Lauren DeVantier (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) got off to a torrid start and earned Player of the Week honors from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
In the first six games of the season DeVantier batted .579 (11-19) with three RBI and three runs scored.
The sophomore had at least one hit in the first five games of the season before going 0-3 versus St. Thomas (MN) March 22.
In the first game of the day March 22, D'Youville beat R.I.T. 6-5 behind DeVantier's perfect 4-4 at the plate and two RBI.
It is the first career weekly conference award for DeVantier.
D'Youville finished the first three days of their Florida road trip with a 2-4 record and returned to action today versus No. 18 Carthage (WI) and Buena Vista (IA).
