Box Score Buffalo, NY-Shannon Dougherty (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) scored 11 of her team-high 14 points in the second-half to lead D'Youville to a 68-54 win over visiting Penn State Behrend.
Down by a pair at the half, the Spartans turned a closely contested game into comfortable win. D'Youville began the second frame with a 19-2 run and the lead was not threatened the rest of the way. In the second-half D'Youville got hot and shot 52% from the floor.
The D'Youville bench came up big tonight outscoring the Behrend bench 22-8. Most of that reserve offense coming from two players. Danette Laguerre (Buffalo, NY/East) scored 11 points and Jean-Ann Korona (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) added 10 points.
Also scoring in double-figures tonight was Alexis Smith (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) with 11 points. Smith has scored in double-figures in three-straight games.
With the win the Spartans improve to 7-5 in AMCC play, 9-10 overall. The Spartans took both games this season against Penn State Behrend.
D'Youville continues their home stand with another AMCC game this Saturday (February 1) at 3:00 p.m. versus Franciscan University.
