Buffalo, NY- The women's basketball team had a tough loss against the number one ranked team in the conference, La Roche College. Despite strong efforts by the Spartans, the Redhawks were able to come away with the 77-54 win.

The Spartans started the second half on a 9-0 run until a turnover gave the Redhawks an opportunity to score. D'Youville continued to chip away at La Roche's lead in the second half, closing the gap to ten points but missed foul shots gave the Redhawks a greater lead. 

Danette Laguerre (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) had a game-high 15 points and two steals. Alexis Smith (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) followed behind with 12 points and nine rebounds while Bridget Andrews (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) added 11 points.

Next the Spartans will take on Penn St.-Behrend on Wednesday, January 29th in the College Center Gym. Game time is at 8pm.
