Hamburg, NY-Spartans' center Alexis Smith (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg)scored 21 points in her hometown game to power D'Youville to a 67-60 win at Hilbert College.

The win ended the team's three-game losing streak and improve the Spartans to 6-4 in AMCC play (8-9 overall).

Danette Laguerre (Buffalo, NY/East) came off the bench to add 15 points, nine rebounds, a game-high four steals, and three assists.  Bridget Andrews (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) chipped in 10 points and has reached double-figures in three-straight games.

D'Youville started slow tonight. Down 6-0 early, the Spartans trailed by ten points eight and a half minutes into the contest. A 13-2 run over the next seven minutes got them back into the game and the teams went into halftime tied at 26.

Over the first eight-plus minutes of the second-half the teams battled to four ties and eight lead changes.

A Laguerre jumper gave the Spartans a 44-42 advantage with 11:56 to play. It would be the game's last lead change and began an 18-3 D'Youville run. Over the next 7:04, Hilbert would be held without a field goal.

The second-half was also too much Alexis Smith for Hilbert. Smith totaled 15 points over the final 20 minutes.

Next on the schedule is a home game versus league leading La Roche College January 25 in the College Center Gym. Start time for the AMCC contest is 3:00 p.m.
