Box Score Buffalo, N.Y.-The final 45 minutes the D'Youville College men's soccer played against visiting Buffalo State were the best of the night.
The Spartans played an even 0-0 half, generated three shots on goal to Buffalo State's two and were even in corner kicks at one apiece.
But in the first-half Buffalo State scored five times and that made it a 5-0 final.
"I give our guys a lot of credit," said D'Youville Head Coach Brendan Murphy. "It could have become a lot worse in the second half but instead we made it better."
Nick Johnson (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) had a team-high 2 shots for the Spartans.
The team's also battled each other and a driving first-half rain storm that made the conditions tough.
D'Youville will next play Alfred University on their home field at the Riverside Athletic Complex September 25 at 7:00 p.m.
