McKenna Rushford was named the head coach of the D'Youville University women's lacrosse program in 2025.
After building a reputation as an outstanding recruiter, player developer, and program builder at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels. Most recently, she served as the first assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at SUNY Potsdam, where she oversaw the team's draw unit, midfielders, and defense while implementing a culture centered on leadership, accountability, and student-athlete development. In addition to directing recruiting efforts throughout New York, surrounding states, and Canada, Rushford managed program operations, coordinated fundraising initiatives, developed the team's social media strategy, and worked closely with admissions to promote the university. Prior to Potsdam, she spent a season as an assistant coach at Butler University, where she coached midfielders, goalkeepers, and the draw unit while helping develop All-BIG EAST performers and contributing to defensive game planning, recruiting, academic success, and team culture.
A standout collegiate player, Rushford earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Jacksonville University after beginning her career at the University of Cincinnati. She concluded her playing career as Jacksonville's Team MVP in 2019 while earning First Team All-ASUN and Second Team All-ASUN honors. During her time at Cincinnati, she was twice named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week and received the university's "Bearcats Strong – All-Around Student-Athlete" Award. Rushford holds multiple program records from both institutions and has had her jersey retired by Amherst Central High School for her accomplishments in lacrosse, field hockey, and ice hockey. With extensive experience in player development, recruiting, leadership, and fostering a positive team culture, Rushford brings an energetic and student-centered approach to leading the Saints women's lacrosse program.
