Shannon Evans is in her seventh season as an assistant coach for the Saints' softball program following a four-year playing career at D'Youville.

Evans has been part of a very successful program over her eleven combined seasons as a player and coach.

As a coach, Evans helped lead the team to back-to-back AMCC regular season titles and advanced to the AMCC Championship game in 2015 and 2016. After missing the postseason in 2017, the team returned to the AMCC playoffs in 2018 and 2019.

She began her D'Youville career in 2011 by starting behind the plate in all 31 games, helping the team win the AMCC Championship and advancing to the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Evans was awarded the team's Most Improved Player award after batting .303 with nine RBI and eight stolen bases. She then appeared in 11 games in 2012, followed by 35 games in 2013 as a junior. She amassed two home runs, 13 RBI and 17 runs scored during her junior season and won the team's Spartan Award. As a senior in 2014, Evans collected a career-high 17 RBI with 22 hits, 10 runs scored, five doubles, and one home run. In each of her four years, Evans was named an Academic All-AMCC Team selection.
