Megan Asham

Megan Asham was named interim coach of the D’Youville softball program during the 2020 season and full time Head Coach of the program in 2021.

In 2021, Asham took the Saints to new heights during their first season as an NCAA Division II and East Coast Conference member. On April 29, Asham guided the Saints to their first win ECC win and victory over Division II opposition, defeating Staten Island 4-1 and then completing the doubleheader sweep later that afternoon with a 13-3 triumph. Late in the season, Asham's Saints knocked off first place St.Thomas Aquinas in the front end of a doubleheader at Dobson Field that handed the Spartans their first defeat of the conference slate.

The upset over STAC, along with seven other ECC victories and 16 overall wins, helped Asham and the Saints secure an at-large bid in the USCAA Small College World Series in DuBois, Pa. At the USCAA's, Asham helped the Saints make a semifinal apperance with consecutive wins over Penn State Brandywine (10-0), Mississippi University for Women (6-3), Penn St.-DuBois (13-3). 

Under Asham's guidance, four of her student athletes were honored at the conference level for their on-field play in 2021. Junior infielder Maddy Pepke, who finished the regular season as the ECC's top hitter, was named to the All-ECC First Team, while senior shortstop Rachel Colan, junior outfielder Mikaela Milleville and freshman first baseman Ava Miller were all selected as All-ECC Second Team honorees. Additionally, Pepke and Milleville were named USCAA First Team All-Americans and to the USCAA All-Tournament Team along with freshman pitcher Lauren Booth. In her first game as head coach on March 10, Asham picked up her first win with a 6-4 victory over Rochester (N.Y.) at Dobson Field.

Asham joined Ona Halladay's coaching staff as an assistant coach prior to the start of the 2019 season. Asham took over head coaching duties on an interim basis following the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign.

Asham was a four-year letterwinner at Division II Minnesota State-Moorhead, where she started all 44 games at catcher for the Dragons in 2018. She finished her career with a .278 batting average, .356 on-base percentage, .254 slugging, and .987 fielding percentage. Asham was a three-time All-NSIC Academic Team selection, as well as a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athlete.  

A native of Brandon, Manitoba, Asham represented her province at six Canadian National Tournaments (five times for softball, one time for baseball). She also was a four-time Manitoba Provincial Champion and was Canadian National Runner-Up once. 

Asham earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Minnesota State-Moorhead in 2018 and is pursuing a master's degree in occupational therapy at D'Youville.
