COLONIA, N.J. – D'Youville University Athletics had another strong showing across Fall competition and were recognized by the East Coast Conference (ECC) with three major weekly award winners and two student-athletes being named to the Honor Roll for the week of September 21-27.
Jimena Loustalot, Field Hockey – ECC Player of the Week
Loustalot had a stellar week for the Saints, scoring two of D'Youville's three goals in a 3-2 victory over John Carroll. The sophomore scored the game-winning goal to secure the Saints' win and also put pressure on Franklin Pierce in D'Youville's second contest of the week, accounting for nearly half of the Saints' shot attempts while putting one shot on goal.
Rowynn Pickering, Field Hockey – ECC Defensive Player of the Week/Rookie of the Week
Pickering was a difference maker in the Saints' 3-2 win over John Carroll. The freshman recorded two shots on goal while also making a key defensive save in the fourth quarter to preserve D'Youville's one-goal lead and help secure the victory.
Hallie Villavechia, Field Hockey – ECC Goalkeeper of the Week
Villavechia helped D'Youville secure a 3-2 victory over John Carroll, playing all 60 minutes in goal and making three saves on five shots on goal. The senior made two saves in the opening quarter, including one just 54 seconds into the game, before adding another late save at 58:20 to help the Saints protect their one-goal lead in the closing minutes.
Gabby Giesing, Women's Soccer – ECC Honor Roll
Giesing continued her impressive freshman season by scoring the game-winning goal in D'Youville's 1-0 victory over Molloy in the Saints' ECC opener. The goal was the only score of the match and snapped D'Youville's five-year losing streak to Molloy while giving the Saints their first victory over the Lions in program history.
Amanda Kit, Women's Soccer – ECC Honor Roll
Kit delivered a fantastic performance in D'Youville's 1-0 conference-opening victory over Molloy. Despite being outshot 10-8, the Saints held strong defensively behind the sophomore goalkeeper, who recorded five saves to earn the shutout and help D'Youville secure the conference win.
