BUFFALO, N.Y. - D'Youville flag football defeated Daemen with a final score of 27-7. D'Youville's defense recorded five interceptions, contributing significantly to the victory.
The Saints began the first quarter with a strong offensive drive, highlighted by an
Alexis Brua 8-yard rush. After a turnover by the Wildcats, Brua intercepted a pass at the Daemen 30, returning it 8 yards to set up D'Youville in scoring position. Despite an interception by Venus McRae halting the immediate scoring opportunity, D'Youville capitalized on their next possession.
Paige Robinson connected with
Sami Woods for a 12-yard gain, followed by Robinson's 1-yard touchdown rush. D'Youville held a 6-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
D'Youville capitalized on a strong start to the second quarter with a decisive touchdown drive. Robinson's passing was instrumental, completing a 21-yard touchdown pass to Brua at 12:33, followed by a successful pass attempt for extra points, extending its lead. Shortly thereafter, Brua intercepted an Olivia Wade pass and returned it 18 yards for another touchdown at 12:14, further solidifying D'Youville's advantage. The quarter concluded with D'Youville leading 20-0, having added 15 points to its score during this quarter.
D'Youville's third quarter was marked by a significant 66-yard touchdown run by Brua at 2:09. The Saints added a one-point conversion attempt by Robinson, D'Youville's offensive efforts were a highlight. Earlier, the Wildcats' Julia Fontanillo scored a touchdown with a 4-yard rush, followed by a successful conversion by Danielle Flickinger. D'Youville's defense continued to stifle the Wildcats' offense, leading to several incomplete passes and negative yardage plays. The game concluded with D'Youville securing a decisive victory, 27-7.
Brua scored three touchdowns and recorded 81 rushing yards on three attempts, adding four interceptions and nine flag pulls on defense. Robinson contributed with a rushing touchdown and threw for 84 yards, completing eight of 19 passes with one touchdown.
Annika Lopez led the defense with nine flag pulls. Kroener added two receptions for 25 yards and an interception.
The Saints will close out the regular season on April 26th as they travel to Villa Maria College for games against the Vikings and Meryhurst University. Games set to start at 11 a.m.
