VIERA, Fla. — D'Youville (10-6) had a successful day on the diamond, winning both of their matchups on Friday.
In the first game, D'Youville secured a 3-0 victory over Goldey-Beacom College (5-8), thanks to a standout performance from
Summer Clark. Clark pitched a complete game two-hitter, striking out eight batters and not allowing a single walk. She faced 23 batters in total, showcasing her dominance on the mound.
The game remained scoreless through the first five innings, with both teams struggling to find offensive rhythm. However, in the sixth inning, the D'Youville bats came alive.
Danielle Fenlong (Georgetown, Ontario / Christ the King SS) began the scoring surge with a single to center field.
Mikayla Hussar (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) followed with a double to left center, driving in Fenlong for the game's first run.
Jorja Sandilands (Brookline, Ontario / Brooklin) then hit a single to center, bringing Hussar home.
Isabella Mancino (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) capped off the inning with a triple to right field, allowing Sandilands to score, putting D'Youville ahead 3-0. The defense held strong in the seventh, ensuring the shutout victory.
In the second game, D'Youville edged out St. Michael's (0-1) with a narrow 5-4 victory, clinching the win with a late run in the seventh inning. The offense was bolstered by two triples, contributing to a total of 13 hits for the game.
Mikayla Hussar initiated the scoring once again with a triple to right field in the first inning, bringing home Fenlong and giving D'Youville an early 1-0 lead.
Shannon Howes added to the lead in the second inning with her own triple to left field, driving in
Frankie Morris (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster) and
Leah Batterson (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Red Jacket), extending the lead to 3-0. The score remained unchanged through the third, fourth, and fifth innings as both defenses stood firm. In the sixth, St. Michael's managed to score twice, narrowing the gap, but D'Youville responded with an unearned run when
Leah Batterson scored on a single from Hussar, ending the inning with D'Youville leading 4-2.

Leah Batterson's infield single brought
Taylor Stronciski (Winnipeg, Manitoba / College Beliveau) home, reclaiming the lead for D'Youville and sealing the game at 5-4.
Kendal Lehnen (Sherrill, N.Y. / Vernon Verona Sherrill) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and four earned runs, striking out two batters without issuing a walk.
Hailee Jenkins (Ontario, Canada / Fenelon Falls) provided relief, pitching 2/3 inning without allowing a hit.
