The D'Youville women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Binghamton University on Saturday afternoon at the Lane–Starke Tennis Center, moving the Saints to 4-2 overall on the season.
D'Youville split the doubles matches, but Binghamton secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. At No. 2 doubles, the duo of Erika Ismailova and Miranda Bosch earned a strong 6-2 win over Nitya Vyas and Adelie Wilson to highlight the Saints' effort. Binghamton claimed the other two flights, taking No. 3 doubles 6-2 before sealing the point with a 6-2 victory at the top spot.
In singles play, Binghamton secured three completed wins to clinch the match. At No. 1 singles, Loren Cuomo defeated Munisa Ashurbekova in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. The Bearcats added another straight-set victory at No. 3 singles, where Apara Khandare topped Ismailova, 6-0, 6-4. At No. 6 singles, Sara Kotz outlasted Maria Victoria Campisi, 6-0, 7-5, to round out the completed decisions.
Several other matches were left unfinished once the team result was decided. Nele Herbst rebounded after dropping the first set at No. 2 singles to even the match with a 6-4 second-set win before play was halted. Mina Randjelovic was in control at No. 4 singles after taking the opening set 7-5 and leading early in the second. Bosch also held the advantage at No. 5 singles, winning the first set 6-4 and leading in the second when the match was stopped.
The Saints continue their road stretch on March 1st, as they'll travel to take on California University of Pennsylvania.
