ECC Players of the Week | September 15-21

COLONIA, N.J. – Many Saints were recognized this past week for their efforts in their respective sports, having five student-athletes in the East Coast Conference weekly awards for the week of September 15-21.
 
Alina Bertens-Deckart, Women's Volleyball – Setter of the Week
Bertens-Deckart was incredible in guiding D'Youville to a 2–1 record over the weekend, recording team-high assist totals in every match. She finished with 35, 36, and 40 assists across three contests, consistently setting up the offense and creating scoring opportunities for her teammates.
 
Matthew Solorio, Men's Soccer – Defensive Player of the Week
Solorio was a wall in net for the Saints, helping them go 1-0-1 on the week with a pair of shutouts. Solorio had six saves on the week, including four against California University of Pennsylvania. Solorio also held the top offensive team in the conference, Queens College, to no goals by making a pair of saves.
 
Mina Randjelovic, Women's Tennis – Player of the Week
Randjelovic helped the Saints win their opening match of the season, defeating STAC by a score of 6-1. Mina went 2-0 on the day, including a victory in the deciding singles match in straight sets by a score of 6-2, 6-2. This was the first win against STAC in program history. 
 
Nele Herbst, Women's Tennis – Rookie of the Week
In her first collegiate action, Nele was able to pull off an exciting victory at #2 singles, battling back after dropping the first set against Mar Caneves Bufi (STAC), and coming out victorious in a tiebreaker: 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 (tb). Herbst also made her debut on #1 doubles, forcing another tiebreaker. This is D'Youville's first victory over STAC in program history.
 
Madeline O'Brien, Women's Volleyball – Honor Roll
O'Brien looked confident at the Saints' tournament this past weekend, leading both her team and the entire tournament field in kills. Over three matches, she totaled 44 kills (14.7 per match) while helping D'Youville to a 2–1 record. O'Brien delivered a standout performance against Slippery Rock with 18 kills, 16 digs, 2 blocks, and 3 assists, showcasing her all-around ability to impact the game offensively and defensively. She followed that up with a double-double against Assumption, recording 10 kills and 10 digs, before closing the weekend with 16 kills and 8 digs in the win over Frostburg State.
