DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Softball team struggled to get the offense going as they felt twice to the Mercy University Mavericks. The Saints dropped game one 7-1 before falling to the Mavericks 4-0 in game two.
D'Youville University 1 at Mercy University 7 – Game One
The Saints got on top quickly in game one as
Emily Przybysz (Hamburg, N.Y. / Frontier Central) reached on an infield single and quickly stole her way to third base.
Summer Clark (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville East) knocked an infield single of her own to score Przybysz and put the Saints on the board 1-0. D'Youville played shutdown defense until the bottom of the third as the Mavericks managed to tie the game at one.
Mercy took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth off a two-run single to right to take the 3-1 lead before tacking on four more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring the score to 7-1.
Przybysz fought to keep the game alive with a double to left field in the top of the seventh but was unable to score and the Mavericks would take game on 7-1.
D'Youville University 0 at Mercy University 4 – Game Two
Game two started as a pitcher's battle, but the Mavericks struck first scoring four in the bottom of the third to take the lead. The Saint attempted a comeback in the top of the fourth after
Summer Clark got on and
Annie Jorgenson (Victoria, BC / Belmont SS) singled to left, but the Saints could not get a run across, and the Mavericks held their 4-0 lead.
Besides the third inning, Clark would record five shutout innings for the Saints striking out two, but with only the lone hit from Jorgenson, the Saints were unable to comeback as the Mavericks took game two 4-0.

The D'Youville Saints stay on the road for a non-conference matchup against Gannon University on Wednesday, April 23rd. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:00 PM.
