SINKING SPRINGS, Pa. – The D'Youville University Women's Bowling team got off to a strong start in day one of the ECC Championships after finishing in second place out of nine teams.
Megan Kapsiak (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster Central) ended the day being named ECC Third Team All-Conference.
The Saints kicked off day one of ECC Championship weekend with five baker matches to determine seeding for the rest of the weekend. D'Youville got off to a rocky start in their first match against Kutztown University falling 870 pins to 783 pins.
The Saints only went up from there defeating St. Thomas Aquinas College in their next matchup 1,038 pins to 684 pins. D'Youville then went on to defeat Adelphi University 980-778 in their third matchup and they also earned the win in match four against Saint Anselm College 943 pins to 739. The Saints fell to Roberts Wesleyan 923 to 889 in their last match, but D'Youville did enough to keep them in second place headed into day two.
