BUFFALO, N.Y. — Entering the 2025-26 season ranked sixth in the East Coast Conference (ECC) preseason poll, the D'Youville women's indoor track and field team brings a strong mix of returning championship performers and impactful newcomers as they look to climb the conference standings.
Head Coach Brendan McMaster returns a roster that not only carries talent and depth but has fully embraced the program's identity. Despite losing key contributors from last year's squad, McMaster believes the preseason ranking doesn't reflect the group's potential. "We're ranked sixth in the preseason… we finished fifth last year. We did lose multiple people that were all-conference, all-region… I don't think they're putting into account the freshman we've got… we've got over 15 freshmen that joined us this year" he said. McMaster also highlighted immediate depth improvements across multiple event groups, adding, "We've got a bigger team in the throws this year… and in the mid-distance area, we've got three girls that can go sub-fifteen with Sienna (Uebelhoer), Sokhna (Diagne), and Andrea (Marquina)."
A theme emerging early in the season has been team chemistry and daily energy. Junior and All-ECC selection Jenna Capolupo described the atmosphere as a major strength. "The locker room is pretty exciting… we have a lot of young freshmen on the team, and they bring a lot of energy… it's been a great year with lots of laughs every day, and I'm super excited to compete with the girls."
Freshman Rylie Biamonte captured the anticipation of this large freshmen class: "A lot of us here are freshmen this year, so it's definitely nerve-wracking going into the first meet… we're all really excited to get on the track and see what we're capable of after a lot of training."
D'Youville opens the indoor campaign on Friday, December 5th, as they travel to Houghton, N.Y. for the Houghton December Classic.
