BUFFALO, N.Y. – With the conference championships in the rearview, the D'Youville University men's cross country team will now turn their focus on the 2025 NCAA East Regional Championships this Saturday in Hopkinton, N.H.
"We outperformed our preseason ranking within the conference, which is a testament to their hard work this season," said head coach
Brendan McMaster. "We have had our challenges this year and it is hard to judge our placement as a team, but individual placements should show growth from a year ago."
The Saints are coming off their best performance in the East Coast Conference Championship, placing fifth as a team. DYU had on All-Conference runner in freshman
Maxim Stinner. Stinner placed 13th in the field of 67, coming in with a time of 28:12.7.
Liam Betteridge, the team's other freshman, came in with at time of 30:21.3 to finish 35th while
Brennen Yates was close behind with a 40th place finish with a time of 30:39.6.
The regional championships is a whole other challenge in its own, being a 10k race where the conference championship was an 8k race. With the longer distance, coach McMaster has had his team training for these kinds of races all season.
"Every workout has been meant for a 10k," McMaster said. "We do not train for regular season meets. We have utilized regular season meets for training as the only ones that matter in cross country are the championship meets."
Our men are exceptional in their work ethic, determination, and their personalities guide the culture," McMaster added. "They deserve ant PR, improvement in place, or awards that may come this weekend."
The men will get started at 11:15 a.m. You can get all the meet details by clicking
