BUFFALO, N.Y. – Getting back in the win column, the D'Youville University women's soccer came away with a 4-2 conference win over St. Thomas Aquinas College Saturday afternoon at Dobson Field.
The Saints (2-4-2, 1-1-1 ECC) got out to a quick start with
Hannah Woodhouse (Queensbury, N.Y.) getting a pair of goals on the first four minutes of play. Woodhouse got her first goal in the third minute followed up with a goal in the fourth minute off the feed from
Jillian Bernas (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) to make it 2-0.
Laoise O'Haodha (Limerick, Ireland) got in on the scoring spree, getting her goal in the ninth minute off the dish from Woodhouse on the fastbreak.
The Spartans (2-5, 1-2 ECC) got on the board in the 36th minute as DYU took a 2-1 lead into the break.
STAC cut the deficit to one goal in the 72nd minute with Sophie Stanley getting the goal.
Late into the game,
Jeslyn-Brooke Vallesteros (Aiea, Hawaii) got the insurance goal with the assist coming from Woodhouse once again.
Kailie Regan (Holley, N.Y.) went the distance in net, making two saves on four attempts.
The Saints will be back in action this Tuesday, October 3rd, as they host Shaw University at 6 p.m.
