NIAGARA, N.Y. – The D'Youville Women's Bowling Team traveled locally for day one of the 2023 Niagara University Brunswick Fall Invitational. The Saints finished seventh out of nine teams with an average game score of 153.0 and 4,076 pins knocked down.
The day consisted of five traditional matches against Hilbert College, Mount St. Mary University, William Smith College, Niagara University, and Roberts Wesleyan University. The Saints won one out of the five matches beating Roberts Wesleyan University 970 pins to 895.
D'Youville traveled five bowlers:
Summer Sega (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg), Olivia Corbett (Dunkirk, N.Y./Dunkirk), Megan Kapsiak (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central), Makayla Pasierb (Dunkirk, N.Y./Dunkirk), and
Alyssa Mankowski (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier).
Saints Highlights
- Megan Kapsiak was the top performer for the Saints finishing 11th. Kapsiak knocked down 945 pins between five games and had an average score of 189. Kapsiak's best game was a 210 and came against Roberts Wesleyan University.
- Makayla Pasierb finished in 27th overall, knocking down 804 pins with an average score of 160.80. Pasierbs best game was also against Roberts Wesleyan where she scored a 207.
- Alyssa Mankowski competed in her first invitational of the year and came in 28th, knocking down 801 total pins with an average game of 160.20.
- Summer Sega was the fourth-place finisher for the Saints finishing in 30th place overall. Sega knocked down 781 pins and her best game was a 198 against Roberts Wesleyan.
- Olivia Corbett was the fifth finisher for the Saints, but still finished in 31st place out of 60 bowlers. Her best game was a 191 and Corbett knocked down 745 total pins with an average score of 149.
The Saints will be back in action for day two of the 2023 Niagara University Brunswick Fall Invitational. D'Youville will compete in three baker format matches along with a blind round in baker format where there is no direct opponent, but total pinfall for the Saints is calculated.
