Box Score
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Using a five-goal performance from five different players, the D'Youville women's soccer shut out Lincoln, 5-0, on a rainy Thursday night at Dobson Field. The victory, the Saints' second in league play, improves them to 5-7-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the ECC. The win also leapfrogs the Saints up four spots in the league table to sixth place with eight points and one league game remaining.
Freshman Jillian Bernas got the scoring started for D'Youville in the sixth minute on a pass from fellow freshman Lauren Zwolenkiewicz. After Bernas' fourth goal of her rookie campaign, the two teams stayed scoreless for the final 40-plus minutes of the opening half.
The Saints came out firing in the second half with two goals in the first 10 minutes. Freshman Noelle Coyle found the back of the net on an unassisted effort in the 50th minute before sophomore Sarah Milczarski headed home her first goal of the season on a corner kick from sophomore Jordan Pachla. Coyle's goal was her fourth on the season while Milczarski netted the second goal of her career and first since D'Youville's 3-1 victory over Alfred State back on Oct. 29, 2019.
Pachla picked out her second assist on the night when she found junior Maggie Leeds open in the box, who back-heeled home the Saints' fourth goal on the night. Leeds' goal, which arrived just under four minutes after Milczarski's, was her team-high seventh goal on the season and ninth in a D'Youville shirt.
Leeds went from goal-scorer to delivering an assist on Zwolenkiewicz's 62nd-minute goal. Zwolenkiewicz now has three goals for the Saints in 2021.
The Saints fired off 37 shots in Thursday's route while the Lions managed only one shot, which was a shot on goal in the second half … 21 of D'Youville's shots were on frame.
Junior goalkeeper Laurie Poeller got the start in between the D'Youville pipes but faced zero shots in her 64 minutes … Freshman goalkeeper Camdyn Cross completed the clean sheet with one save during her 26 minutes in net.
