Alfred, NY-Rebecca Alvira (Buffalo, NY/Mount Mercy Academy) scored the only two goals of the game and goalkeeper Christina Ventresca (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) made two saves for the shutout and D'Youville heads into the AMCC Tournament with a 2-0 non-conference win at Alfred University.

Alvira's goal total for the season is now 11 and that breaks the team record of goals by freshmen.  The previous record was 10 set by current teammate Danielle Gehen in 2010.

Ventresca and the Spartan defense extend their team-record shutout streak to 344:26.  The last goal scored on D'Youville came at the 15:26 mark October 13 at Franciscan.  The shutout is Ventresca's fourth of the season and fifth of the year for the team.

D'Youville (10-6-1), winners of four-straight, hosts Medaille College in the first-round game of the AMCC Tournament Saturday October 27.  Start time at the Riverside Athletic Complex will be 5:00 p.m.
